Imagine working at a company, and not knowing how much is spent and the best way to distribute those dollars… that is exactly the type of situation many firms find themselves today. Those types of situations make analytical skills in-demand. Businesses must look deeper into their financial health as well as develop a better understanding of markets and forces impacting competition. Employees with a strong analytical skill set help businesses to make informed decisions, identify problems, and develop actionable solutions.

Virginia Peninsula Community College is proud to offer our Accounting and Financial Analytics I Career Studies Certificate. Thanks to the career studies certificate format — which requires fewer classes than a traditional Associate degree — most students can earn the credential in just three semesters. Upon completion, students will understand the basics of both accounting and financial analytics.
Students will take a variety of classes, including ACC 221 – Intermediate Accounting I and ACC 263 – Data Analytics and Statistics in Accounting, and can elect to focus on some business courses like BUS 274 – Foundations of Entrepreneurship.
