Cybersecurity and Networking Foundations

The Cybersecurity and Networking Foundations Career Studies Certificate Program at Virginia Peninsula Community College equips students with the fundamental skills to protect digital systems and manage computer networks. Through hands-on training and industry-relevant coursework, students will learn the basics of cybersecurity, network configuration, and threat prevention.

In order for students to be well prepared and successful in all areas of IT including key areas of cybersecurity and networking, students need to be introduced into the basic topics of operating systems, computer hardware, networking concepts, programming, and cybersecurity core topics.

Classes in the program include ITN 260 – Network Security Basics, ITP 100 – Software Design, and additional classes in the field. Students will need to complete 15 credit hours in order to earn the Career Studies Certificate.
