The Legal Assistant Certificate program at Virginia Peninsula Community College is designed to prepare individuals to perform as legal assistants under the supervision of an attorney. The curriculum includes courses in business law, real estate law, family law, legal research, and trial preparation. Graduates of this program are equipped to pursue roles such as court reporters, legal secretaries, legal support workers, legal assistants, and title examiners.

Classes in the program include LGL 115 – Real Estate for Legal Assistants, LGL 200 – Ethics for the Paralegal, LGL 216 – Trial Preparation and Discovery Practice, and many other classes related to the law and legal systems. The program consists of 31 credits, which most students complete over two semesters.
