Our Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Professional Nursing is designed to meet the needs of hospitals and other healthcare agencies on the Virginia Peninsula, and the curriculum will prepare students for entry-level employment as a registered nurse as well as continued study at a four-year institution.
Complete 500 hours of clinical instruction during the program, and gain hands-on experience as early as your first semester at local healthcare facilities such as Sentara Careplex, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Riverside Regional Medical Center and Bon Secours facilities on the Virginia Peninsula. Virginia Peninsula’s Nursing associate degree program is approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
Graduates who complete the program and pass the licensing exam can work in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, long-term care facilities, and mental health centers. While the program prepares students for immediate employment, it also offers pathways to continue studying at select four-year colleges for those who want to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
