Virginia Peninsula Community College is proud to offer an Associate Degree in Social Science, with a Specialization in Education. This program includes courses which will examine historical perspectives, current issues in education, educational trends and the requirements for licensure in Virginia. It also includes a 40-hour practicum in a public school and courses in writing, public speaking, literature, math, lab science and history.

Our Social Science degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related fields. Virginia Peninsula graduates who complete the program with a certain grade point average can benefit from special admission agreements with other Virginia colleges and universities.
