Welcome to Virginia Peninsula Community College — we are so happy that you’ve decided to start your higher education journey with us! As you begin, we’ve tried to make the process as simple as possible. Below are the basic steps to get you enrolled as a student here at VPCC.
Through this guide, you’ll see links and contact information for the things you’ll do along the way of getting into classes with Virginia Peninsula. If you feel like you need a little help, we host frequent New Student Orientation events, which will help you get on the right path.
Steps to Apply
STEP 1: Apply to Virginia Peninsula
Everything starts with a completed application — begin that here. That will include your Student ID number and myVPCC username, as well as indicate your tuition rate (in/out of state). Make sure to check your email for follow-up information from Enrollment Management.
Step 2: Sign in to myVPCC using your myVPCC username
Our student portal, myVPCC, provides access to important student information and your college email account.
You will also have access to our onboarding tool, Navigate, 24 hours after you apply online. Learn more about Navigate and how it is used.
STEP 3: Complete the Enrollment Survey
The Enrollment Survey is one of several measures and informed self-placement to determine student readiness for college-level English and Math courses. Details are available from Academic Advising.
STEP 4: Apply for Financial Aid
Complete the Free Application for Financial and Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal, state, and institutional financial aid that can help you pay for tuition, fees, and textbooks. Make sure to add Virginia Peninsula Community College to your FAFSA application using school code 006871.
Also, Consider applying for VPCC Scholarships — there are quite a few!
STEP 5: Register for Classes through Navigate
Using the programs of study in the College Catalog and the Class listing, determine which classes you need to take.
Next, access Navigate through myVPCC. Add classes to your cart and register in Navigate. This will hold your place in classes and ensure you are taking the right classes for your program.
STEP 6: Make an Appointment with an Advisor
You’ll use Navigate to make an appointment with your Advisor. Academic Advising also has walk-in services available, but making an appointment is the best way to ensure you get the help you need.
Note: Depending on the time of year, it may be difficult to make an appointment with your advisor. You should register for your classes as soon as possible.
STEP 7: Attend New Student Orientation
Our New Student Orientation is a program for all students, including Early College high school students. You’ll learn about important College processes and student support services.
Step 8: Order Textbooks Online
Visit our bookstore, your one-stop shop for all the materials you need to succeed.
Step 9: Pay Tuition
Make a plan to pay your tuition. Apply for Financial Aid and check your Message Center in SIS (accessible through myVPCC) frequently for updates on your financial aid package. Payment plans are also available. Tuition deadline dates are posted on our Academic Calendar.
Step 10: Get your Student ID card and Parking Permit
