Founded in 1967, Virginia Peninsula is the Peninsula’s Community College, serving the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg and the counties of James City and York. Virginia Peninsula is the sixth largest of Virginia’s Community Colleges. Accreditation
Virginia Peninsula Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. Virginia Peninsula Community College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Our Nursing Program is fully approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing. The program also has the continuing accreditation with conditions designation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326 (www.acenursing.org).
The Virginia Peninsula Community College EMS program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (727-210-2350 or www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions or CoAEMSP (214-703-8445 or www.coaemsp.org).


The Virginia Peninsula Community College EMT and AEMT programs are accredited by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services – 1041 Technology Park Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23059 (804-888-9100, FAX: 804-371-3108 or www.vdh.virginia.gov/emergency-medical-services). This designation is a status signifying that a program has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation Standards established by the Office of Emergency Medical Services in compliance with Virginia Administrative Code 12 VAC 5-31.
The Early Childhood Development AAS degree at Virginia Peninsula Community College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from June 30, 2021 through March 31, 2028.


The instruction, course of study, facilities and equipment of this institution have been evaluated by the ASE Education Foundation and meet standards of quality for the training of automobile technicians at the following level: Master Automobile Service Technology Program. VPCC offers transfer associate degree programs, career and technical associate degree programs, certificate programs, and career studies certificate programs.
Workforce Development
VPCC offers training programs in healthcare, manufacturing & skilled trades, and cybersecurity eligible for tuition assistance through the Workforce Credentials Grant program.
Guaranteed Admissions Agreements
Through guaranteed admission agreements, students who graduate from VPCC with a transfer degree are guaranteed admission to many of Virginia’s four-year colleges and universities.
Military Services
In Academic Year 2023-2024, 26.6% of VPCC students indicated a military affiliation (active-duty, veteran, spouse, or dependent). The College has been listed among Military Times Best for Vets for 10 years in a row.
