Founded in 1967, Virginia Peninsula is the Peninsula's Community College, serving the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg and the counties of James City and York. Virginia Peninsula is the sixth largest of Virginia's Community Colleges.

Accreditation

Virginia Peninsula Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees.

Workforce Development

Virginia Peninsula offers workforce training programs in healthcare, manufacturing & skilled trades, and cybersecurity eligible for tuition assistance through the Workforce Credentials Grant program.

Guaranteed Admissions Agreements

Through system-wide guaranteed admission agreements, students who graduate from Virginia Peninsula with a transfer degree and minimum grade point average are guaranteed admission to many of the Commonwealth's four-year colleges and universities.

Military Services

 

In Academic Year 2018-2019, 24.1% of Virginia Peninsula credit students indicated a military affiliation (e.g., active-duty, veteran, military spouse, or military dependent). The College has been listed among G.I. Jobs Magazine's Military-Friendly Schools as well as the Military Times Best for Vets: Career and Technical Colleges list.
