How can I get my textbooks?

You may purchase your textbooks at the College bookstore or from an online book seller.

What kind of computer equipment do I need?

In order to participate in a fully online course at Virginia Peninsula, students must have reliable access to a computer with internet access. Although you can access the Internet with a dial-up modem, is not recommended to connect to the internet that way.

What if I don’t have Internet at home?

Online students can access their courses through any wireless device that can connect to the internet via WiFi. Additionally, online courses can be accessed from public and college/university libraries.

Will I need to come to the VPCC campus?

How do I communicate with my instructor?

There are many methods of communication available, depending on the course you are taking. Most instructors encourage communication via Discussion Boards, virtual office hours through virtual chat, e-mail, and phone.

When does class start?

An online course starts the same date as other scheduled courses. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for session start and end dates.

When will I see my courses in Canvas?

Your courses should be visible in Canvas no later than the first day of classes for the term. Please check SIS to make sure you are registered for the desired course and to check the start date for the course. If you do not see your Canvas course on your dashboard on the first day of classes, please contact canvasinfo@vpcc.edu so we can investigate the issue.

I can’t log into Canvas — what do I do?

Contact the Technology Help Desk so that a ticket can be generated for the Learning Management System Administrator to investigate and track the situation.
