Proceeds from the sale of Eric Murphy's memorablia collection will raise money for a scholarship in his name at Thomas Nelson Community College. In addition, the Admirals are donating a portion of their Feb. 12 ticket sales to the fund.

The Norfolk Admirals will honor longtime fan Eric Murphy, who died in October at age 44, during their Wednesday, Feb. 12 home game against the South Carolina Stingrays. Five dollars from every ticket sold through a special link will go to the Eric Murphy Scholarship fund at Thomas Nelson Community College.

Several items from Murphy's memorabilia collection will be up for auction at the game, as well, and the Land of Goshen Auction House will have a weeklong online auction beginning Feb. 11. In 30 years following the minor-league hockey team, Murphy collected a wide variety of memorabilia, from game programs and pucks to bobbleheads and much more.

"We hope to bring family and friends together to celebrate Mr. Murphy while cheering on the Norfolk Admirals he loved so much," the Admirals said.

Murphy was an alumnus and longtime employee of Thomas Nelson, and always wanted to establish a scholarship for IT students at the College. The goal is to raise $30,000, which would allow for an annual scholarship.
