Thomas Nelson Names Its Outstanding Employees
Five people were honored last week for their excellence and dedication to Thomas Nelson, being named an Outstanding Employee for 2020.
The awards, announced in a Zoom call Oct. 5 by Cynthia Callaway, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, were presented on behalf of the Thomas Nelson Educational Foundation.
"We are so pleased this year to continue this tradition of recognizing the excellence that we have in our service to our students in the classroom and our service areas all around the College," Callaway said during the call, adding these annual awards began more than 10 years ago.
The winners were Katrina Bailey (part-time staff); Keyanna Hawkins (full-time classified staff); Beth Dickens (administrative/professional faculty); Gary Randall (adjunct faculty) and Dawn Hayden (teaching faculty).
Bailey works in Advising; Hawkins is in charge of the TRiO program at the Historic Triangle campus; Dickens is the Academic Assistant Coordinator in the STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math) division; Randall's department is Workforce Development, and his specialty is Workforce Credentials and Continuing Education; and Hayden is an Associate Professor in the English department.
"Thank you all for your dedicated, committed and unnerving service to Thomas Nelson Community College," Callaway said. "We need excellence now more than ever. Our students and our community certainly are worthy and deserving of your service, and we appreciate all that you do for Thomas Nelson."
Another set of awards, the state service awards, will be announced via Zoom on Oct. 12.
