New Digital Media Communications & Marketing Manager Joins College
Thomas Nelson Community College recently welcomed Doris Shadouh to its Institutional Advancement division to serve as digital media communications and marketing manager.
In the role, Shadouh leads the development of strategic marketing communication initiatives to promote student success. She also oversees Thomas Nelson's website, social media, digital sign and the Creative Communications Services section within Institutional Advancement.
"I'm extremely excited to hit the ground running to bring a new updated look to our website and also help elevate and invigorate our social media channels to reach our many constituencies," said Shadouh.
"My mission is to grow our social media presence by not only providing information about what is happening in the Thomas Nelson community, but by also starting a conversation about the exciting things we have lined up for the future. Over the next year, I will be working with my team to build a large network of followers so that we are constantly engaging our students, alumni and community members to help further Thomas Nelson's mission."
Shadouh comes to Thomas Nelson from Norfolk State University, where she was the social media manager for nearly three years having previously served in the same capacity at Virginia Beach's Steel Master Buildings. Primarily a writer throughout most of her 15-year career in communications, she brings extensive experience to the College. Her background includes positions in radio, newspaper and a "long" stint in local television at WTKR.
The Norfolk native also tried her hand at business ownership for several years by parlaying her penchant for building websites into an enterprise named DIA Designs. Serving clients in several industries including law firms, non-profit organizations, medical practices and entrepreneurs, she helped with branding, building websites and developing social media strategies. Running the business allowed Shadouh to be a jack of all trades as the work also involved graphic design and videography, among other skills.
Currently enrolled in a master's program for public relations at NSU with anticipated completion in 2021, she holds a B.A. in English from Old Dominion University, where she also studied journalism and communications.
