The VPLC partners with Thomas Nelson students each year to design artwork for the event. Brittney Jolly is this year's winner. Student entries will be on display at the event.

The Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium brings international best-selling author Jeffery Deaver to Christopher Newport University's David Student Union at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 for its annual author talk. Masks will be required at the venue. The event will also be available via Zoom (Register for Zoom).

A VPLC partner, Thomas Nelson is providing free tickets at its Hampton campus library on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Those who wish to get tickets at the Historic Triangle campus may email Corey Buttram at buttramc@vpcc.edu and state how many tickets are needed. Deaver's work includes more than 40 novels, three collections of short stories, a nonfiction law book and more. His books have been translated into 25 languages.

Open to the public, the event includes the author's discussion, a question-and-answer session and book signing. Coordinators advise early arrival given the open seating. Ticketholders will be seated first.

The VPLC's Author Talk is in its fourteenth year of entertaining reading enthusiasts with renowned novelists.

Tickets are also available at other consortium-member public libraries in Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County as well as CNU and Hampton University.
