Students, Faculty, Staff Have Chance to Chill Out

The chance to take a horse-and-carriage ride was too good to pass up for many at the Historic Triangle campus Thursday.

Horse-and-carriage rides, a spirited game of Jenga, and a real live dancing president. Those were just some of the images from the Chill Fest events last week at Thomas Nelson's Hampton and Historic Triangle campuses.

The two-day event, one day at each campus, used to be known as Fall Fest. It was designed to give students, faculty and staff a few hours to relax, and they took advantage of the opportunity.

More than 100 people showed up Monday at the Hampton campus, participating in Jenga, corn hole, dancing, a big Connect Four game, and battling each other with bopper inflatable toys. The Thomas Nelson cheerleaders were on hand to give a brief demonstration.

Three days later at the Historic Triangle campus, the big draw was the opportunity to take a short horse-and-carriage ride. There was more live music and dancing, including a few steps from Thomas Nelson President Dr. Porter Brannon.

At both places there were nods to Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15-Oct. 15. Desserts from numerous Hispanic countries were available, and flags from Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Spain, Chile, El Salvador, Panama, and Ecuador were on display.
