Over $140,000 in Scholarship Funds Available Through Educational Foundation
Thomas Nelson's Educational Foundation is pleased announced that $143,000 in scholarship funds are available for spring 2022. To help offset the cost of tuition, fees and other educational expenses, new and returning students can apply for any of the following:
- Armand Brown Basketball Memorial Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $500 each"
- Thomas Nelson Business Scholarship for Single Women - $300
- Dominion Energy Grove Community Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $750 each"
- Elizabeth Southall James Thompson Memorial Scholarship - $400
- Finish What You Start (FWYS) Dual Enrollment Scholarship - "Multiple last dollar scholarships available up to the total cost of tuition and fees for previously dual enrolled high school students who graduated in 2020 and 2021"
- Hampton Roads Automobile Dealers' Association (HRADA) Scholarship - $550
- Howmet Corporation Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $500 each"
- Irene Morgan Scholarship - $750
- James and Virginia Taylor Nursing & Dental Hygiene Scholarship - $1,000
- John F. Lawrence Memorial Scholarship - $183
- John R. Lawson Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $600 each"
- Linda Moroz Scholarship - $500
- Loraine and Louis Drucker Scholarship - $600
- Marge Funk Memorial Scholarship - $1,250
- Mark Daniel Wyatt Memorial Scholarship - $750
- Micron Technology Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $500 each"
- Newport News Shipbuilding Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $1,000 each"
- Patricia Leggett Rapp Scholarship - $250
- Rodgers & Elizabeth Smith Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $750 each"
- James City County Rotary Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $750 each"
- TNCC Student Nursing Scholarship - $250
- The Dr. Angela J. Giles & Marie A. Giles Scholarship - $125
- The Louise H. Young Memorial Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $600 each"
- The William E. Wood & Associates Foundation Scholarship - "Multiple scholarships available at $260 each"
How to Apply
- Apply for admission to Thomas Nelson Community College (becoming Virginia Peninsula Community College)
- Apply for Federal Financial Aid if the scholarship lists a financial need requirement
- Submit the online scholarship application using your MyTNCC username and password to sign in.
The College also offers other funding options including federal and state financial aid (such as grants), veteran and active-duty education benefits, workforce development assistance and the Thomas Nelson Community College Payment Plan.

Additionally, many community organizations provide funding to support higher education. Once such entity is the Virginia State Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Its focus is "women helping women reach the stars through educational grants, loans and scholarships." Among several opportunities it provides are:
- Program for Continuing Education - One-time need-based grant to women in the U.S. and Canada who are enrolled in an educational program leading to employment or job advancement; and
- Educational Loan Fund - Open to women who are high school graduates or equivalent enrolled in accredited U.S. or Canadian school and within tow years of completing course of study
