Basketball Player Brown Honored
Juwuan Brown's big game against Central International College helped Thomas Nelson's basketball team improve to 9-1 overall.
Juwaun Brown, a freshman from Williamsburg, was named the New South Athletic Conference player of the week after leading Thomas Nelson's men's basketball team to a 91-77 victory over Central International College.
He had 20 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and one steal as the Gators improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
"His maturation over time has been great," Gators coach Chris Moore said. "He hasn't played in the last couple of years, so to see him growing into the player he is now … He's been an impact guy.
"I'm really excited about how much he's grown."
It is the second time this season a Thomas Nelson player has earned conference player-of-the-week honors. Kiaden Mines was so honored in December.
Brown, a 6-foot-7 forward, had a lot of support in Sunday's victory. Quishaun Brevard, playing his first game with the Gators, added 19 points. Twins Javion Majette and Jaquan Majette added 16 points each.
The Gators return to action Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. at home against Southside Virginia Community College.
