2022 Juried Student Art Show Winners Announced
Best in Show award winner
Thomas Nelson's Visual Arts department congratulates winners of the 2022 Juried Student Art Show.
Tom Siegmund, a Tidewater Community College photography professor, judged the works.
"The student show was without a doubt a fun show to look at," Siegmund said. "Thanks for asking me to do it. I really enjoyed it. The entries were serious and showed focused evidence of a serious and very much alive art program. In addition, I was very much impressed with the large body of studio submissions."
The entries consisted of drawings, paintings, two and three-dimensional art, videos, motion graphics, and graphic design works.
"The work showed a high level of creativity and sophisticated design," said Randie Trestrail, a Thomas Nelson computer graphics instructor. "We are very proud of our visual arts students and grateful for the many entries we received. Choosing the winners was likely a difficult task."
Momina Waheed's painting, "African Women," garnered the award for best in show. Waheed received a $200 cash prize for the award.
Additional cash prizes went to Wanda Jennings for best video, Jastin Diemsen for best motion graphics, Will barber for best photography, Keyanna Lee for best graphic design, Michael Robinson for best 2D fine art, and Haley West for best 3D fine art.
The Visual Arts team extended special appreciation to the Student Affairs division for supporting the exhibit. View the winning pieces at https://visualarts.tncc.edu.
