Three Administrators Chosen for 2022 LEAD Peninsula Class

Thomas Nelson Community College's Beth Dickens, Myleah Kerns and Keisha Samuels are among 46 selectees for LEAD Peninsula's class of 2022. A Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce initiative, LEAD Peninsula is an immersive 10-month program that lets established and emerging leaders from private, public and nonprofit sectors collaborate on important issues facing the community.

Dickens is the College's interim dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math while Kerns is the associate dean of Arts, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. Samuels is the interim dean for Community Partnerships and Student Success at Thomas Nelson, which is becoming Virginia Peninsula Community College. They are part of a diverse group representing government, business, military, faith-based organizations, non-profit agencies and more in this year's class.

Through instructional sessions, tours and candid conversations with community leaders, the class will gain greater appreciation for their community in areas such as education, public safety, health and human services and economic drivers. Topics also include environmental sustainability, local and state government, workforce development and the military.

Formally called Leadership Institute of the Virginia Peninsula, LEAD Peninsula was established in 1984 and boasts more than 1,000 graduates.
