Baseball update
The Gators had one of their busiest weeks of the season, with six games scheduled. Unfortunately, they lost all of them to fall to 8-17-1 on the season.
Things got started March 15 with a doubleheader at Richard Bland College in Prince George. The Gators lost lost 11-1 and 14-7. In the first game, Joey Williams accounted for the Gators’ lone run with a home run. Brandon Drewery, Will Michalowicz, Nate Sherman and Jude Morton also had hits. In the second game, Williams had three more hits, including a home run. Nate Sherman also had a home run. Morton added three hits, and Danny Horowitz had two.
The team’s struggles continued March 16 with a 12-3 home loss to Finger Lakes (N.Y.) College. Aydan Harmon and Williams each had two hits.
A three-game series with Surry Community College on the weekend started with a doubleheader loss March 18. The scores were 10-2 and 7-3. Their losing streak grew to six with a 15-1 loss to Surry on March 19.
This week, the Gators play:
March 22: vs. Bryant and Stratton, Deer Park, 5 p.m. (9 innings)
March 25: vs. Caldwell, War Memorial Stadium, 1 p.m. (doubleheader)
March 26: vs. Caldwell, War Memorial Stadium, 11 a.m. (9 innings)
