Students representing Virginia Peninsula Community College’s visual arts, drone, and EMS programs collaborated on a promotional video highlighting the College’s EMS division.
Josh Falcon, a graphic and media design student in the video careers studies certificate program (part of the visual arts program), worked with Kolby Hoge, a classmate in his video course, and Emily Huffman from the EMS program.
“Kolby and I did our equal parts in the project,” Falcon said. “We both helped in filming the scenarios, including a couple of drone shots thanks to the help of (professor) Randy Trestrail.”
As far as the editing, Falcon worked on the first cut, with Hoge helping him put the finishing touches on it.
Falcon, who lives in the Williamsburg area, recently earned his video career studies certificate and is almost finished with his photography certificate.
“I got involved with this project because I was looking for an internship,” he said. “When talking about options with my teacher, Kolby and I decided to work together on the EMS project.”
He said the experience, especially the group aspect, was invaluable.
“’Working with the EMS team was great, and it was interesting to see them in action,” he said. “I hope the rest of the EMS team will enjoy it too.”
Huffman demonstrated an emergency medical call that was included in the video. And Falcon noted all the EMS instructors and students were great to work with.
“Thank you for your patience and cooperation on this project,” he said.
