It's Severe Storm Season, Be Prepared

As hurricane season lasts through Nov. 30, it's crucial to be prepared. Emergency officials emphasize that readiness can increase survival chances, save lives, and speed up recovery efforts. Here's how you can stay safe:

Personal and Family

1. Create a family plan: Ensure you have an emergency kit with supplies for three to seven days, including          food, water, blankets, fuel, medicines, pet supplies, and cash.
2. Secure your home: Store outdoor items that could become projectiles in high winds.
3. Follow official advisories: Adhere to all evacuation or shelter-in-place recommendations from local                  authorities.
4. Know your evacuation route: Be familiar with your evacuation route and Know Your Zone (Designated A        through D) for clear evacuation information regarding flooding.

Workplace

1.Protect essential items: Have a plan to safeguard files, records and valuable equipment.
2. Stock up on supplies: Have plastic sheeting and other materials ready to cover equipment and files.
3. Coordinate with your team: Discuss preparatory actions and assign responsibilities among team members.
4. Update contact information: Ensure emergency and contact information is current and distributed to all team members and Human Resources.
