Virginia Peninsula Community College’s Broadband Fiber Optic Technician program prepares students for careers in the rapidly growing telecommunications industry. This hands-on program covers the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks, ensuring students gain the technical expertise needed to work with high-speed communication systems. With a focus on industry standards and emerging technologies, graduates are equipped for roles such as IT related personnel, premise cabling technicians, network designers, fiber optic splicers and technicians.

This program is recognized by the Fiber Optic Association and U.S. Dept. of Labor as an approved training course, which is appropriate for anyone interested in pursuing a professional certification in Fiber Optics (CFOT) and/or Premises Cabling (CPCT). Class presentations will consist of virtual classroom and on-ground hands-on-training, delivered by Alliant Global Strategies Inc.
