Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology Certificate

The Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Certificate Program at Virginia Peninsula Community College provides students with the essential skills to create precise technical drawings and 3D models in engineering, architecture, and manufacturing. Through our program, students will dive into training with industry-standard software. The faculty who developed our program will instill a strong foundation in drafting principles, blueprint reading, and design techniques. Students also have the opportunity to explore digital and rapid prototyping.

The CADD Certificate Program program prepares graduates for entry-level positions as drafters, CAD technicians, and design assistants, offering a fast-track pathway into the growing technical design and engineering support field. The program can also lead to further courses in mechanical and civil engineering technology at the bachelor’s degree level.

Students will earn the certificate after completing 33/34 credits for classes in the program. Those include CAD 151 – Engineering Drawing Fundamentals I, MEC 131 – Mechanics I-Statics for Engineering Technology, CAD 152 – Engineering Drawing Fundamentals II and
