Cybersecurity for Local Area Networks (LAN)

Our Cybersecurity for Local Area Networks (LAN) Career Studies Certificate is designed to provide basic competency in network security. This program prepares students to take the CompTIA Network+ and Security+ industry certification exams. This career studies certificate is a subset of our larger enhanced program — Cybersecurity for Enterprise.

FALL ’24 – SUMMER ’25 TUITION & FEES

Virginia Residents Out of State Rate
$169.60 per credit hour $384.20 per credit hour

The certificate consists of three classes, which are ITE 120 – Principles of Information Systems, ITN 109 – Internet and Network Foundations, and ITN 260 – Network Security Basics. Students will need to complete all of those classes, which combined equal to 9 credit hours. Classes take place either at our Hampton Campus or online.

 

DUAL ENROLLMENT

  High School Students: You may be able to enroll in this program via our Dual Enrollment program.

The curriculum provides a means for high school students to begin their cybersecurity career studies as dual enrolled students with Virginia Peninsula and provides a path for completion of the enhanced competency career studies certificate, Cybersecurity for Enterprise. Industry professionals can use this curriculum to prepare for Network+ and Security+ industry certifications to enhance their marketability and continue studies in cybersecurity.
