Graphic and Media Design

The Associate of Applied Science in Graphic and Media Design program teaches students how to create strong visual designs using key design ideas and principles. Students will develop skills in computer graphics and mixed media while learning to think creatively and critically. They will also gain hands-on experience with industry-standard production processes used in print design, photography, graphic design, video production, motion graphics, and web design.

Students will take many diverse art and design classes in the program, including ART 208 – Video Techniques, ART 250 – History of Design, ART 251 – Communication Design I and others. Students will need to complete 64 credit hours to earn the degree.

Transfer Possibilities: Applied Science degrees, like this one, are designed to prepare students for entry into the workforce. Under formal articulation agreements with some four-year colleges and universities, students enrolled in a career/technical program who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree may be able to transfer selected courses into related programs. Students interested in pursuing transfer options should consult with a Virginia Peninsula Academic Advisor early in their academic career and consult the transfer guide for the intended transfer institution and major.
