Our Associate of Applied Science in Human Services degree is designed to prepare students for employment in the human services industry and focuses on the training and preparation of entry-level to mid-level social and human services assistants.

The employment opportunities in this field are vast and expected to grow as the elderly population grows and the needs of impaired populations continue to increase. Explore options in fields such as social work, counseling, mental health care and more. Graduates with experience in this field become:

Transfer Options: Applied degrees are designed to prepare students for entry into the workforce. Under formal transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities, students enrolled in a career/technical program who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree may be able to transfer selected courses into related programs. Students interested in these transfer options should consult with a Virginia Peninsula Academic Advisor early in their academic career.

 

G3 ELIGIBLE PROGRAM

  This program is eligible for the G3 Tution Assistance programs.

Articulation Agreement: Students who are interested in transferring to Old Dominion University to transfer into their Bachelor of Science in Human Services program, plan should meet with Academic Advising early to determine and discuss requirements.
