Description:
Established in 1991, the George S. Ames Memorial Scholarship assists students pursuing an education in a technical field. George Ames served as a White House correspondent prior to World War II. Following the war, he settled in the Williamsburg area where he worked at Fort Eustis writing regulations and making training films. Mr. Ames was very concerned about education and the fact that many youth were dropping out of school. He was particularly concerned with the small amount of young people seeking an education in technical areas. Preference is given to graduates from one of the public high schools in Williamsburg or James City County.
Virginia Peninsula Educational Foundation scholarships can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other related educational expenses. Please use your myVPCC username and password to log in.
