Jeff Bonavita

J.J. Bonavita is a faculty member and department chair for the Fire and EMS Education department. He has been with the College since 2015, when he was hired as an adjunct EMS lab instructor. He was a Norfolk firefighter medic before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2019. He started his career in EMS with Christiansburg Rescue Squad and earned EMT intermediate certification from New River Valley Community College. He also earned his Paramedic certification at Tidewater Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech (2005), and a master’s in Public Education from Old Dominion University (2022). He also serves as president of VPCC's Faculty Senate.
