This scholarship was established in 2024. Baylands Family Credit Union was chartered on January 22, 1946 and remains committed to providing outstanding service to our members. The Credit Union was formed by a group of nine dedicated employees of what was then known as Chesapeake Corporation of Virginia in West Point, Virginia. The intent of our founders was to promote thrift among its members and to make loans to its members for provident purposes. We are a member-owned institution that exists “Not for Profit, but for Service.

Requirements
- Recipient must be talking classes at the VPCC Historic Triangle campus or the Toano Trades Center
- Must be graduate of a high school in Baylands membership footprint. Those 9 counties include: Chesterfield, James City, New Kent, King William, King & Queen, Middlesex, Essex, Gloucester and Mathews
- Eligible students must have or maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
- Answer a short essay question as part of the application process. “Baylands believes teaching financial education is vital to our community. What area or areas do young adults need to know about managing personal finances, and what would help YOU learn more?”
Scholarship can be used for tuition, fees and books, required supplies or course materials
