Southeast Center Purpose
Virginia Peninsula Community College is committed to the Southeast Community of Newport News and the programs and initiatives of the Southeast Higher Education Center. We have a renewed vision to develop programs and successfully implement for-credit courses, workforce development instruction, and other customized training workshops. The Southeast Center creates clear pathways for students to complete specific degree and certificate programs through the Newport News locations via in-person and hybrid classwork. Our research has shown that Newport News is the largest city in our service area, and the Southeast community has been significantly underserved.
Communities thrive when they are engaged and have a strong sense of purpose. As we continue to empower our community with the most skilled workforce, the college must establish new partnerships and solidify those of the past. We seek to build and sustain impactful partnerships and sponsorships throughout the community. Our endeavor to develop signature programs, increase enrollment, and host critical programs is vital to sustaining Virginia Peninsula Community College's legacy in the Southeast Community.
