Taking Attendance
- Log in to MyVPCC; click Navigate Campus.
- You should be on the Professor Home Page.
- Click Record My Class Attendance on right-hand side.
- Your courses will be listed on the left in the Choose a Course box.
- Choose the particular course where you want to record attendance.
- Choose the date of the class meeting using the calendar on the left below.
- Log the attendance. (This is similar to how it was done in SAILS.)
- Submit attendance for that meeting by clicking the Save Attendance button on the bottom left of the Course Attendance screen.
Note: Excel reports can be easily created by using the link provided in the Choose a Course box.
Issuing an Alert
- Log in to MyVPCC; click Navigate Campus.
- Click Issue an Alert on the right-hand side.
- Key in student name or ID number in the space beside Student.
- Select the reason you are issuing an alert from the drop-down box.
- Indicate your course that the student is enrolled in by clicking where it reads "Optional."
- Add any Comments you think are necessary. (An email will be sent to the student indicating that the instructor has concerns; however, students cannot see the instructor's comments.)
- Click Submit.
Managing Assignment Concern, Attendance Concern, Low Participation, Low Quiz/Test Score Cases
- Log in to MyVPCC; click Navigate Campus.
- Click the briefcase icon on the left-hand side. When you hover on the icon, the word, Cases appears.
- Click in the gray area beside the word, Student, to alphabetize the list.
- Find your student's name, and click on Manage Case, which is on the right-hand side.
- Click Add Comment located in the light gray box to document what has occurred.
- Click Add Comment located in the blue box.
- Click Submit.
Note: Follow this process when you want to update cases that you have raised an alert on, but you are not ready to close the flag yet. This serves as documentation for future reference.
Documenting Notes after Meeting with a Student
(Follow these steps when a student has visited you, for example, during your office hours. This student did not have any alerts issued.)
- Log in to MyVPCC; click on Navigate Campus.
- Click on the Magnifying Glass (located in the upper-right hand corner). This is called a Quick Search.
- Key in student's name or the student ID#. Hit enter. Highlight and click on student's name.
- Click on Report on Advising Appointment (located on right-hand side under Staff Alerts.)
- A screen will appear that reads: Advising Report for ________________________. (The student's name will appear where the blank is.)
Note: Below are the fields to complete:
Reason
Meeting Type
Course
Date of Visit
Location
Departed
Appointment Summary (This is where you key in your meeting notes).
Note: Be sure to click Save this Report located at the bottom.
Closing Assignment Concern, Attendance Concern, Low Participation, Low Quiz/Test Score Cases
- Log in to MyVPCC; click Navigate Campus.

- Find your student's name, and click on Manage Case, which is on the right-hand side.
- Click Add Comment to document what has occurred.
- Click Add Comment again.
- Click Submit.
- Click Close Case.
- Click drop-down box beside Outcome.
- Select Outcome Reason. Add additional comments if you like.
- Click Submit.
